I am a miracle. I came to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior late in life. (Giving yourself to Jesus Christ when you are older does not happen very often).
I felt like I was in control and didn’t need God. The attractions of this world can be enticing until one day you realize that there must be more. I had achieved much by the world’s standards. I thought knowledge was key and had achieved a master’s degree and 3 bachelor degrees, along with several professional certifications. I was a nationally recognized speaker on manufacturing techniques and enjoyed a substantial income. I even prepared myself physically by earning a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I had worked hard to earn the tools to be successful in life and for a time that was satisfying. That all ended at the age of 42 when God finally broke down those fleshly barriers and filled a void that I didn’t even know existed.
I gave my life to Jesus Christ, with one caveat, which God has honored. I would never pretend to be someone that I wasn’t. I had seen so many “Christians” that professed to be one thing, but their actions didn’t support their words. Their “Praise God” proclamations were empty and void. As I grew in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, I realized the power of God’s Word in my life and retired from my executive position and went to Calvary Chapel Bible college earning a Bachelor’s Degree in biblical studies.
I eventually moved to Allegan, Michigan and Calvary Chapel of Kalamazoo Valley became my home church. I love that we honor the whole counsel of God and study the Bible verse by verse and chapter by chapter. God’s love, truth and grace abound at Calvary Chapel. The Head of our fellowship is Jesus Christ and we are merely shepherds responsible for God’s flock. A Shepard’s mission is simply to glorify Jesus Christ and allow the Holy Spirit through God’s Word to nurture those that God gives him into healthy sheep. Healthy sheep then beget healthy sheep.
